Sinks get clogged. It’s just one of those pesky little factoids that annoy us. Sometimes you can grab a plunger and unclog it, and sometimes you need to pour a little of that clog removing gel down the drain to get it moving again. Then there are the gigantic killer clog of clogs that just won’t go away. You start brushing your teeth and before you know it the bathroom sink is full of water and it takes all day to drain. You have to go to the kitchen to wash your hands because the sink is still full of the toothpaste spit and rinse.

We had one of these nasty little clogs recently. I live in an apartment building with dumbo for maintenance too, so I was pretty much on my own with this one. After my husband plungered the drain with all his might and it was still clogged, he said, “that’s it, we are going to have to call a plumber.” Oh freaking no we are not calling a plumber yet! Last time I had a plumber in the apartment they made the biggest mess I’ve ever seen in my life, charged me $60 an hour to do, and then I had to clean it up! No thank you, not again. Off to the store we go to find something magical and wondrous to unclog this stupid drain. We’re browsing the cleaning products and he hands me Liquid Plumr Power Jet Instant Clog Remover. I look at the shelf. It’s less than $8 so I’m buying it. Worth a shot, right? We get home, I’m readying the kids for bed and I hear this loud swoosh sound, followed by him proclaiming “holy $h!t.” I run from one end of the apartment to the other thinking that the sink has gushed water everywhere and flooded the bathroom and master bedroom. I arrive to him standing there laughing and the water swirling down the drain. It worked. FAST! Three days later the drain is still clear and water flowing freely and without gurgle or bubble. Worth every penny to not have a plumber in here tearing the place to shreds, and saved me about $50 in repair fees.  Woohoo!  Big thumbs up for this sink saving easy to use product.

I need some of this! The tub in the upstairs bathroom has never drain. So we have never used it in the almost 12 years we have lived here. I am keeping my eyes out for this stuff.

HAHAHA! “You start brushing your teeth and before you know it the bathroom sink is full of water and it takes all day to drain.”

That is me, every morning on my sink in our bathroom. I just keep forgetting to get stuff at the store to unclog it. I’ve never tried that Power Jet stuff, but I will now.

Try using some of the natural drain cleaners before using the chemical cleaners.

Even the hand held plungers or the pipesnakes are a great way to avoid the chemicals

    part of the time.
