window window, what’s on your window?
I’ve had most of my windows covered in mini-blinds because we rent, and they are “required” part of the apartment. Supposedly it shows unity and makes the front of the building look nicer. Honestly I hate them, because they are the el cheapo plastic mini blinds from Walmart. They are hazardous, ugly, and after fighting the battle of trying to keep the dog, cat, and kids from breaking the end pieces off the Blinds I gave up, pulled them all the way up, and cut off the cords that were excessively long for such short windows.
Now, what I didn’t realize was that Blinds don’t have to be ugly! Nor do they have to be plastic. There are some very nice wooden blinds, and canvas blinds, and lots of other decorative and affordable window solutions. Over the past few days I’ve been looking at and pricing a lot of things that I want to put in our new home (if our offer is accepted on the house) and window coverings are on the list. I had previously ruled out blinds, but now I am reconsidering my choices as far as what will be keeping the sun out at night, and letting it in on a nice day! Paired with nice shears and curtains these could really add charm to a room without breaking the bank account.
