carpet cleaning in your home
Keeping the carpet clean can be a huge chore, especially if you have kids and/or pets! Some families set certain rules to help keep the carpet clean and fresh. A few good examples of clean carpet rules;
- Don’t eat in the living room and/or bedrooms.
A common rule of carpeted households, especially those with teenagers that leave plates behind often.
- Vacuum frequently.
Daily isn’t completely necessary for the entire house, you may want to vacuum certain things daily if you have a long haired pet though. Every other day, every third day, or once a week can be enough for your household. Determine how often is right for you based on traffic and dust. If anyone in the house has allergies or asthma it us best to do the vacuuming when they are not in the room. I try to do the vacuuming while my boys are at school so I don’t stir up a coughing fit.
- Wipe your feet.
A door mat in the entryway can be your carpet’s best friend. It will catch loose dirt, grass, and other stuff you don’t want inside.
- Take off your shoes.
This is one of those rules that some people obsess about. Shoe removal can be good, and it can be bad. It really comes down to preference, they’re your feet and your floors! A shoe foot household can be just as clean as a no-shoe foot household.
The best way to keep the carpet clean? Don’t have one! Carpets collect dust, dust mites, dirt and bacteria. Having hardwood or laminate floors is much a cleaner overall alternative. Add some washable throw rugs and you still have the comfort of carpet with an easy to clean option.
