at home highlight kit from Clairol
Let’s do ourselves a favor and get our highlights at the salon. Yes, this cute little highlight comb is much less expensive, and yes, I am a huge Clairol fan (Clairol 120 brown, that’s me!) But, this nifty little kit is too easy to make a mess with. I highlighted my hair myself with it last year and I consider myself to be experienced in self dying, I’ve been doing this since I was 12! It appears easy enough, but really the comb tool is more of a hazard than a help. You can buy the kit, mix the stuff and put the highlights in with a highlight pick, put a cap on, foil it, or just use your fingers and make less of a mess than you’ll make using the little plastic comb through tool, especially if you have long hair! If you have very short hair, chin length or shorter you might be able to maneuver the comb better and get a decent result with it.

I use my thumb and pointer fingers….pour the stuff into a paper bowl, dip my fingers in and pull it through the length of the hair.

I tried this product a few months ago and was throughly impressed. I have natural light brown/dark blonde hair about 4 inches past the shoulders. I chose to apply some chunky highlights around my face and the top of the head. The color came out beautifully. I have these pretty golden blonde highlights now. I’m sorry, but I have to disagree with you. I found the product easy to use!!
