make up your mind already….

Have you head that Cingular will become AT&T again this summer? Remember when the commercials said something like AT&T the new Cingular….Cingular raising the bar…. Well, they’ve decided that’s not working and they are going back to AT&T. Maybe because it was confusing to new customers. Maybe because AT&T is an old reliable name that people have come to be familiar with over the years. Maybe they just want to do whatever they can to get you to buy the new AT&T cell phones. Or maybe they really just can’t make up their minds. Probably a bunch of men sitting around arguing about it in a conference room right now! (Notice I said men, because really it’s men that can never make up their minds contrary to popular belief!)

It’s actually been changing a lot, not of all of which were a big deal with a fancy ring tone chiming commercial attached to them. It’s been a long cycle since way back in 2004 when Cingular purchased AT&T Wireless and the two started running as Cingular Wireless. But, then along comes SBC and purchases AT&T and we meet the “new AT&T” or AT&T Inc. Then they merge with Bellsouth (who originally created Cingular Wireless in the first place!) And last year it was AT&T/Cingular commercials we became familiar with and now it’s time to revive the good old AT&T name again and they want to complete replace the Cingular name.

Now, really this isn’t going to have much effect on the customers of AT&T/Cingular/Bellsouth whatever you want to call it. You still will have a phone and that phone will still work! But, the bill you get in the mail might have different logo on the envelope so be careful not to toss it in the trash with the junk mail. LOL Most people probably won’t even notice and we’ll just keep going on about our calling and text messaging as usual.

Seriously though, is anybody else feeling kind of over it? Who cares what you call it, just give me a good price, a decent phone that doesn’t break when I flip it open and give me a choice as to how to pay my bill and I’ll be happy. Geesh, who knew cell phone companies were so dramatic.

What we really want to know is what happened to the “rollover guys” in the commercials? Will there be a catchy new commercial with more cool guys and catch phrases? Who knows. Will there still be funny “dropped call” commercials … and will they be parodied on You Tube for hours of viewing pleasure?! Now that my world is delivered on a cell phone will it cook dinner and do the dishes too? These are the things people care about, not what name or logo is printed across the top of the bill that we have to pay. Blue, orange, who cares … use them both, they go well together.

Is the phone ringing? Come and get your love. Stop the catbox! The sheep don’t like it!!! Wooo, yeah.

I totally agree. I hate crappy ad campaigns and company names. Take for instance Altria-formerly known as Phillip Morris or maybe it is more accurately still known as Phillip Morris. They didnt even bother changing ticker symbols. It still trades under MO. Figure out your marketing/PR campaign and get it done.

Of course when it was cingular ” the fewest dropped calls” I have never had so many dropped calls. Maybe that will change now?? My sister can only hope. For some reason, its with her my calls drop!
