sick kiddos and home management
You’ve probably noticed it’s been pretty quiet around here lately. No new recipes or product reviews happened this week. Sorry about that. The kiddos and I have been feeling a little under the weather. So far Lucas is the only one that has escaped the nasty illness that first makes your nose run, and later makes something else run….usually in the direction of the bathroom. It even got Noah, who never gets sick. Of course Noah was only sick for a whole two hours yesterday. He had a Gatorade, laid down on the sofa for a bit and then was his bouncing, smiling self again as usual. Go figure.
Keeping sick little children in a resting position can be quite a chore when that child is determined to play even though they are coughing and wheezing like crazy. Especially after an albuterol treatment that gives them a false sense of “buzz.” Movies and a bowl of dry cereal to snack on helped a little with that, and I even handed over his Gameboy and let him play that for awhile if it meant he would lay down after he took his medicine. He’s definitely feeling better today, and he even started eating regular food last night. I think I’m the only one trailing behind here with my misery. Fortunately there was no school today, they’re off for the holiday weekend so I didn’t have to worry about keeping anybody home again.
I look around and realize that the house is looking seriously messy. I need to come up with a better management system, especially for times like now when we are feeling like doing nothing about anything other than getting some rest.
What do you do when your kids are home sick?

Mostly I sit around holding my head in my hands, thinking how messy my house is. Guess that wasn’t much help, huh?

You are right about the albuterol treatments. My daughter has spent most of her life being very asthmatic. When she was a toddler I actually had to hook her up in the stroller so that she wouldn’t run around.
It is hard when the kiddies aren’t well. And when you are sick too it is just a nightmare!! I feel for you.
Hope evryone is feeling better now since I am actually commenting late on this post!

The getting paid $50 an hour part makes them pretty merry I suppose -lol-
Asthma is rough to deal with, especially when they are little.
