Menu Planning

Menu planning is such a great time saver and money saver that I’m going to give it it’s very own category here at Just Not Martha. About a year ago I discovered menu planning services and I’ve subscribed to a few since then. Using menu plans has changed not only the way we eat, but the way we grocery shop! I’ve learned to shop smarter and having a list (I can’t believe I didn’t do this before because I lovvvve lists!) that outlines everything by where it is in the store is such a help. Grocery trips are shorter, easier, and there’s much less impulse buying. I am very guilty of being an impulse buyer and I will just fling stuff into the shopping cart if I don’t have a very specific list of things to purchase!

So, coming up in this category we will have a variety of things. A few menu plans written by myself and hopefully a few submitted by our readers! We’ll also have reviews of menu planning services that are out there.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Why should you even consider paying for such a service? I thought the same thing a year ago before I bought my first menu plan subscription. The truth of the matter is I hate having to plan everything myself and we all tend to get into those food ruts where we are constantly eating the same things day in and day out. Summer is probably the easiest time to get into that rut with our summertime foods like watermelon and grilled chicken and hot dogs. Getting a menu plan from an outside source can have you trying new foods and freshen up the dinner table a little bit.

I am looking forward to this category! It’s definitely an area I can use some help in.

  2. Not Martha Says:

Actually, me too LOL I need to change mine up some and get back into a routine. Baseball season threw me way off base with getting things that were fast as opposed to things that were good for us!

  3. Deb Says:

    I’m a big list maker!

  4. Not Martha Says:

I love my lists, now if only I ever got around to finishing them I’d be in good shape!

  5. El Yanqui Says:

I usually plan dinner when I’m standing in the supermarket with an empty basket thinking, what should we have for dinner?

I guess I could benefit from some actual, you know, planning.
