Soda Club

I don’t know what it is about having a soda that I enjoy so much, but it’s a weakness. We’ve been sort of avoiding buying soda because if it’s in the house I will drink it and generally all that sugar and caffeine is probably not he best for the waistline, which I am trying very hard to shrink! Then there’s the amount of trash it makes with the bottles and cans and cardboard boxes.

I’ve been eyeing up these soda makers for some time now. And now my blogging buddy Drew is having a contest sponsored by Soda Club giving away one of these lovely machines as first prize! Oh be still my heart. He even made this little video not only talking about the contest, but demonstrating making a nice cold orange soda! And here I sit with plain ole kool-aid to drink!

Using the soda maker is easy enough, and if the Soda Club website doesn’t convince of that, surely Drew’s video will. You supply the water, carbonate it in the machine and add a bit of the Soda Club soda mix. Easy peasey, right?

There are loads of benefits to using the Soda Club soda maker! First there’s way less trash. You have reusable bottles for making the soda in and each container of mix makes 12 liters of soda. That’s a lot of soda from a little container! Just a family of 6 using the soda club maker would save 32 cubic feet of landfill space!

Whoa, way less calories. If you click on “show me the savings” on Soda Club’s website it will show you the difference between buying prepackaged sodas and making your own using the soda maker and Soda Club products. Check out these health stats it gave me for my family and our soda buying habits. And we’re not considered all the time soda buyers! Yikes can you imagine?

Calories:
You’ll consume 167,379 fewer calories – that adds up to 48 pounds!
Sugar: You’ll reduce sugar intake in soft drinks by 66% – that’s 8,603 teaspoons
Carbs: You’ll drop 43,017 grams of the carbs in regular soda by making the switch!
Sodium: You won’t miss the 8 tablespoons of extra sodium contained in some store bought drinks.

And of course the all mighty dollar speaks quite loudly as well. Save up to $140 on Soda per year with a Soda-Club home soda maker. You’ll save $36 on the soda you’d otherwise lug home from the store. You’ll also save an estimated $74 by no longer tossing out flat, mostly empty, store-bought bottles of soda. And if you live in a bottle bill state, you’ll save up to $30 if you don’t always return your empties to get your deposit back. (based on a family of 6 buying soda occasionally.)

Lots of good reasons going on there, and if that’s enough reasons it’s just very cool to have your own personal little soda fountain in your kitchen! The soda would be fresh and fizzy, never flat.

Of course if I win the amazing Soda Club soda making wonder of the world or any of the other cool prizes from BenSpark’s Refreshing Soda-Club Contest, I will give you a full product review and maybe even make my own little demo video to share. And hey, if you happen to be in Newport News I’ll gladly make you a soda with it if you stop by for a visit.

Id love to hear what the soda tastes like – so if you get one, please do post about it…my DH is a big “fizzy” drinker and I loathe lugging those bottles around. Thanks for the low-down on all the positives for this product…Cheers!

Nice! My husband and I are trying to cut back on our soda consumption since we have two tiny boys who are watching everything we do! This might be a nice alternative to stave off our cravings for fizz.
