top 5 show and tell faves!

I know not all school still do show and tells. My kids are lucky that they get to have show and tells! Usually they are only a few of them per year, at the beginning, maybe one in the middle, and one towards the end of the school year. It’s something fun and it helps the kids get to know each other. And as one of the boys teachers said, it’s the perfect opportunity to start working on public speaking skills. She not only asked for show and tell items, she asked them to prepare a note card with the things they wanted to “tell” about their “show.” Almost as though getting ready for a speech. And then they video taped the whole thing! It was great practice for later in the year when they had to give their first out loud book report and presentation. It was much easier because they already had that first speaking in front of the whole class, and standing here with this thing beside me nervousness out of the way!

The top five show and tell themes at my kids school are ….. *insert funny drumroll thing*

5. Collections! I love hearing about other kids collections when the boys have had their show and tell. So far I’ve heard about a penny collection, a rock collection (oh was Ethan excited about that one he loves his rocks), a stamp collection, a model car collection, and a creepy crawly bug collection. I’m hoping we hear about more collections this year, none of my boys really collect anything. Except Ethan, he collects everything that fits in his pocket. Usually rocks and dirt.
4. T-shirts -lol- I know that’s funny, but a lot of the kids come in wearing a vacation t-shirt and tell about where they went. It might be camp, a Nascar race, a concert, anywhere you can get a t-shirt (and that’s almost everywhere!)
3. Baseball stuff! Signed or not signed, they love it. There is a large who’s team is better thing going on at the school, which of course Dylan is heavily involved in. Red Sox fans versus Yankee’s fans. In the three years we’ve lived here he has had 1 Yankee’s fan class, and counting this year 2 Red Sox fans classrooms. He forgave his 2nd grade teacher for being a Yankee’s fan and they get along so well. It’s all in good fun.
2. Anything Disney, MGM, or other Floridian vacation spot related. Mostly Disney, and of course loads of princesses!
1. Sadly the most common show and tell items are “This is my moms/dads _____. He/She is in Iraq right now.” We live in a large military area and unfortunately many of the parents are not here right now and we all miss them greatly.

So, what are your kids taking for show and tell this year?

Do you need an Orlando vacation home for your summer vacation next summer?
