DIY on DVD!
That sounds like I’m talking in some super secret spy code if you say it out loud. Anyhow, I have often enjoyed many a “project” around the house. I officially have more power tools than my husband. It’s good to be me sometimes.
One thing that is not at all pleasant to have to do is remove and replace the toilet. You know, like when your kids decide to play a round of flush batman down the toilet. Or let’s see if it the rubber bouncy ball can get out of the swirling black hole! That being the swirling flush right into the plumbing. Ack! If I sound like I’m speaking from experience that’s just because I have four kids and there have been many things flushed down my toilet.
The first time we had to take the toilet off the floor was a little frightening. We had never done that before and we really just were not sure how it was going to go. I talked to a guy at the local hardware shop and he sold us the wax ring seal that goes in the bottom and let us know that even if our original toilet was savable we would need a new one when we bolted it back down. He did not however tell me that the wax ring makes a gooey freaking mess when you’re taking the toilet off the floor. Gross.
I’m sure you noticed I said the first time. Yeah, we definitely had to do that whole thing more than once. To the point where I had two or three extra wax rings in my linen closet just in case something happened to be in the toilet. That was several years ago though and we’re all grown out of that phase. Thank goodness. It would have been nice to have some extra guidance or a tutorial DIY video during that time because we really had no clue what we were doing the first time. It was all trial and error! Yikes, scary to think back on that day.
Visit DoItYourself.com for more and buy the DVD, there are plenty more DIY DVD’s to choose from as well. Hopefully you won’t need the toilet advice due to some super hero or bouncing ball being stuck in the curved part of the pipe.

Well at least you had the tools for the job, and you didn’t have to pay a plumber to do it. Now I bet you could do it in your sleep.
