ready to bento!
Well, I am officially ready to create beautiful bento creations! I received this wonderful bento box gift in the mail from my friend Jenn this week. She insisted that even though I don’t often need to pack a lunch to take anywhere that I should still have a fun and colorful bento box. It is pretty darn cute I must say. I love great big colorful polka dots! There is a little saying in the corner around of the dots edges, “The life which bounced.” And then there’s the cute little fishy shaped soy sauce squirt bottle thing, well I guess you could put whatever type of sauce you wanted in it - who cares what goes in it, it’s cute!
I admit for whatever reason I thought bento boxes were larger. I know I looked at this same designs on one of the many bento sites and I just thought it was bigger. I think that is mostly due to the creativity of the bento creations I’ve looked at online, they find ways to creatively fill up the compartments and it just looks like so much food. And it is so much food, I’m sure if properly packed a bento is a very filling lunch. It’s definitely a change from my Little Mermaid lunchbox (a subtle early 90’s reference for anyone I went to high school with.)
So, a big thank you to Jenn for the awesome gift!
I absolutely love it. Now I need to go grocery shopping so I can make my first official bento!

I don’t know what it is about bento boxes, but I love them! I just did a post about them on a travel/culture blog I have. (http://curiousvillager.blogspot.com) — And when I packed my husband’s lunch for tomorrow I tried to make it look nice but it wasn’t too impressive. LOL.
Can’t wait to see how your first one looks.
I love that you mentioned lunch boxes. I forgot how much I loved mine until I read that and then the look/feel/smell of it just came all rushing back to me
