football sunday chili
It’s Sunday and in our house this time of year that means Steelers Football! In fact, Brian is out there right now yelling at the TV about something or other that happened. I dare not venture out there to see what. In addition to football, comes the art of what he refers to as “football food,” though I’m not sure exactly what makes a food football friendly. Maybe I should do the market research on that and write a football food cookbook! So, I share with you today our recipe for the official Oliver household football Sunday chili. I’m allergic to beans, so this is a no bean chili!
* 2 pounds of ground turkey
* 1 package of turkey kielbasa
* 1 can of diced tomatoes (or dice your own from the garden)
* 1 can hunts tomato sauce (plain not spaghetti sauce)
* 1 can whole kernel corn, or approximately 1 cup of frozen
* 1 or 2 spoonfuls of garlic - crushed, chopped, or minced
* 1 medium sized onion diced
* 1 package McCormick Mild Chili Seasoning (you can use hot if you want!)
* a large pot, at least 5 quart - or make it in the crock pot![]()
Start by browning the ground turkey, garlic, and onion. Drain if necassary.
Add the chili seasoning. *do not add water, just the seasoning packet*
Stir until well covered.
Drain the diced tomatoes and canned corn before adding to the pot.
Mix in the turkey kielbasa. Stir until all well mixed.
Pour in the tomato sauce. Stir some more!
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for a few hours.Serve with cheese cubes and bread for dipping!
Also very good over brown rice if you’re not a bread person.
And of course I made a recipe card for you to save and print out. Black & gold Steeler’s colors -lol- sorry I couldn’t resist.

That looks good and it looks ready for the table right now. Maybe I’ll cook for my husband this weekend! I probably won’t be using the turkey, but maybe subsistute it with beef. Thanks for another good idea!

haha. I know my husband wouldn’t notice the difference when the game was on. It looks like a great recipe. Like Erica, I’ll substitute the turkey, but I’ll put in chicken.

Chicken works too!
Beef is just too greasy I think.
