buying a cookie tray …

cookie monsterSo, today I had it all planned, I was going to walk over to the store at lunch time and get some things for dinner and some ingredients for a cookie platter I was making for Brian to take to work with him tomorrow for their in office Thanksgiving luncheon thingy-ma-bob. He was racking his brain about what to take, and they changed the day on short notice, and he didn’t want to take a crock pot full of appetizers this year. I said “I’ll make a cookie tray,” and he got very excited and asked … “with peanut butter blossoms?” See I make some wicked awesome peanut butter blossoms and those are his favorite cookie. In fact they are probably the very best thing I make in the kitchen.

But then this morning it started to rain and be very windy … damn these tropical storms and hurricanes out there in the water. Or whatever crazy front is moving in on us. It was downright hot outside last night and pretty warm when the boys went to school and now everything is cold and wet. Anyhow it starts storming, and the phone rings. It was Brian. He called to tell me to not leave the house that the storm was going to get worse and he’d just stop and buy a cookie tray at the grocery store on his way home from work because he didn’t want me to stay up all night baking stupid cookies. And he’s getting dinner too. Woohoo! :-) So no cooking and no baking for me tonight. What a relief that is, especially since I’m just finally getting into work for the day. Between the cable company replacing the lines and the weather this morning I haven’t been online much.

Getting this call sort of made my day in a way. It was nice that he didn’t want me out walking in the yucky storm, and that he didn’t want me to stay up all night baking cookies after Grey’s Anatomy. Just nice to be thought of in the middle of the morning like that and get an “i love you” phone call. I’ve been having a rough week and I know he noticed that, so it was sweet.
