the pie will not defeat me this year

pieI know I have told you that I love to bake. Cakes, cookies, desserts …. I love making them from scratch and playing with ingredients. But, pie. Ugh ~ pie always defeats me. It is the one baked sweetness that I always seem to manage to burn, screw up, add too much of something, or just plain ruin somehow.

Since my brother-in-law has to work the day after Thanksgiving we decided to have Thanksgiving at his house, early, so that he doesn’t have to travel and he can just go straight to bed after football watching Thursday night. It seemed the logical thing to do. They already had picked up a turkey, so we decided we’ll add a small ham and they asked me to make desserts. I said, “okay no problem.” I love making desserts and they all know it.

But, it’s Thanksgiving, and pie is practically a requirement!!! I must make pie. I will make pie. I will not burn the pie. I will not ruin the pie. I will make the bestest pies in the whole world!!!

My request / question of you is this. What is your favorite kind of pie? If you could have any pie for Thanksgiving other than the usual pumpkin or apple pie what would it be?

Random holiday idea ~ pick up some wholesale flowers (real or fake) and put together a mini wreath as a centerpiece and add some candles in the middle and ta-da a beautiful holiday table.

My mom makes a chocolate mint pie for me every Thanksgiving. So yummy… easy, impossible to screw up.
