what if breast milk was for cat food?
I am going to be the pain in the rear end for some of you this morning. Just because something is here on the planet doesn’t mean it was intended for physical consumption. In going over my diet plan and talking to my husband about his eating habits etc this is a topic that has come up a lot lately. And then of course everyone is talking about their new year’s resolutions to lose weight too.
Marijuana is a natural plant resource and we frown upon it’s consumption because the government and advertising say it’s naughty stuff. We go out and buy milk by the gallon because somebody somewhere decided it was good for us even if it’s not and the government and advertising said it was good too, because they would rather us consume milk than marijuana. Okay those were probably extreme examples.
Just because chickens lay eggs doesn’t mean we have to eat them. What if they have a higher purpose that we aren’t aware of yet? What if milk is actually intended for watering a certain kind of flower? Who said cows were supposed to be cut up and eaten? Some guy with a lot of cows did, that’s who. Why on earth would cows and chickens be intended to be mass produced only to be chopped into bits? That doesn’t sound right, does it?
Who decides “supposed to be…” anyhow? If I said right here and right now that gray squirrels are actually supposed to be ground into hamburger, would you go out in your backyard and round up some gray squirrel dinner?? Or if I said that human breast milk was supposed to go into cat food, would you be pumping to feed the hungry cats all around the world?? Cows are pumping to feed the hungry people, so why not? Are you confused yet?
I like what ifs. /goes back to corner for the morning/ That reminds me I haven’t had breakfast yet ….

I love these thoughts! Completely love them!! Because it is so true!!! Especially the way you put it - mass producing living beings only to chop them up! Ugh!!
Pass the peanut butter, please! I told you peanut butter was the ‘juice of life’!

Ahh. I knew when I read the words of others saying …”God put everything on this earth for us to eat…” that it didn’t ring true for me, but I didn’t know exactly why. Thanks for this post - what a great illustration.

Some very interesting thoughts put forward. I can’t get behind the breast milk as cat food ingredient however as mother’s feeding their young is a trait in Mammals so why should that be different for breast milk. I understand that we drink cows milk, just can’t wrap my head around this. But gives me something to think about.

Let’s try again. I adored this post! I am thrilled that I stumbled onto this page yesterday! I think this is brilliant and funny! As a nursing mom, I laughed my tail off at the catfood comment.

good stuff…and years ago, when there’s a surplus of milk and the government is trying to use this up to help the dairy farmers, suddenly all kids at school drink milk…
looking back at the causes is frustrating, all while interesting

I think you have some strong points. Just because some person or organization said that it was good for you does not mean that they way it’s supposed to be. I like how you use your examples and even though that they are a little extreme, but I think you have some good points!
