here’s to a healthy 2008
What does your family plan to do differently in 2008 to live more healthfully?
That’s a good question. Now that we’re past that whole icky cold and flu thing where everyone was living off chicken noodle soup and saltine crackers we can get back to our plans for a healthy new year. What does that mean for us? That means less drive thru lunches on Saturday’s after karate class. Instead the boys can get a smoothie at the Gym’s cafe and we’ll make lunch when we get home. It’s less expensive and better for us.
Making a grocery list before wandering around the store. When I was using a menu planning service I was never without a great grocery list. Then I went back to just wandering around the grocery store aimlessly with nothing in my shopping cart except bananas and a loaf of bread. I pulled out my menu planning binder again and we’re shopping by the list again. It’s saving us time an frustration on a daily basis. I don’t know what I was thinking when I stopped using these things, they are a huge life saver.
Trying new foods. So far the boys have done okay with this, even Lucas the picky is willing to try new things - as long as there are no noodles in sight he’s a happy boy.

Smoothies at the gym — what a great idea! It’ll keep their tummies satisfied while you cook a decent lunch, and keep all of you just a wee bit healthier. Or maybe a lot healthier!
and they’re pretty good too!!
Mmmm banana strawberry smoothie.
