Food Connect Social Recipe Network
Social websites are all the rage right now, and recipe sites have always been popular. So, why not combine the two? The result of that combination is Food Connect. (www.foodconnect.com)
I’ve never been a big fan of the “general” cookbook, they are always so full of stuff I don’t need or want to make, and they take up so much space on the shelf in the kitchen. My cookbook collection is limited to a few specific cookbooks that I really like, and the rest of my recipe hunting is done online.

When I signed up for Food Connect today I really didn’t know what to expect. I’ve been registered to quite a few recipe sites in the past, and while I like them just fine they all have different features that I like. Food Connect takes all those great features and combines them into one powerful recipe tool.
You can do the usual things like add a recipe to the site or find a recipe and print it off. But then there are additional features to the site. You can rate each recipe, add your own photos from when you make the recipe yourself, add friends when you find a contributor that matches your interests, and bookmark your favorite recipes when you find them so that you can come back to them later. It’s like your own little recipe box.
It doesn’t stop there. You can plan an event menu for your next gathering of family and friends. You can print off shopping lists so that you don’t forget anything when you go to the store. (Remember our discussion the other day about making sure you have everything and my forgotten ingredients?)
When you go to your personal page there’s a recipe section with several tabs to help you keep everything organized.
* Published tab so that you know which of your recipes are on the network already.
* Cooked so that know what recipes you’ve used from the site and how you liked them (or didn’t like them.)
* Reviewed lets you know which recipes you’ve left feedback on.
* Bookmarked for your saved recipes, your own online virtual recipe box of things just waiting to be made by you!
* Submitted is recipes you submitted for review to be added to the site.
* Add a New Recipe! so that you can easily add something new of course
There’s also a menu section to your personal page where you can search and add recipes to a menu and then gather a shopping list from that menu. A great way to plan the week, or the even the month if you’re a monthly shopper!
But, it’s not all just recipes either. There are discussion groups too. I joined the Crock Pot discussion group, because I love anything that I can toss in a pot and let cook all day without having to think about it much! Even I can’t screw up crock pot cooking!
So I’ll stop rambling and let you go check out Food Connect for yourself.

If you sign up stop back here late and let me know and I’ll add you as a friend in the network so we can share all the goodies we find and submit. Happy recipe hunting!

That site sounds really great! I bet it would really help my non-cook self out in the kitchen! And I definitely have to tell my sister-in-law about it - she is Mrs. Kitchen herself!
She will probably love it!

I checked it out and signed in. This is THE kitchen. Thank you for sharing.
This is actually one of the most useful things I have seen online for a long time. I can see my girlfriends getting into this. Thanks!
For some reason I haven’t stumbled upon this social network site, it looks fun and I have tons of recipes I can share.
I haven’t come across this site yet either, but it looks great and I love to cook. I also have the cookbook issue. Most of the time they have things in them I would never make or want to make.
