I am just having the most odd non-powered week. Over the weekend the power went out, the transformer blew outside or something like that - I don’t know the exact details but I know it was very loud and the power was out for quite a few hours. Brian had headed to bed, and I was right in the middle of working on something… POP! So I putzed around the candle lit living room for a few hours, sorting through school papers the kids had stacked up and looking over scribblings and just sitting quietly.

Yesterday the power went out in the middle of the afternoon and then was out most of the day until about 7:30 P.M. Around 6:30ish we had gotten tired of sitting in the dark waiting and the power was out for 3 blocks and there were trucks all along the road. It was almost as if they didn’t know where the problem was at in the line. So we decided to take the kids out to get something to eat. The grocery store nearest here doesn’t have a prepared foods section, so we caved into the adorable little boy smiles and took the kids to McDonalds for chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers. Yuck … That’s all I have to say about the trip to McD’s.

Then today I’m sitting typing away on my laptop and all of a sudden it’s off!! What the heck now? The power is still on …. oh no it’s broken? *gasp* Then I realize that the cat has managed to knock the plug out, my battery died. Duh me.

I know I am just rambling oddly about electricity, right? You just don’t know how much you depend on it until it’s not there for awhile. I’ve spent weeks camping in the outdoors with no power and been fine with it, but that was camp and I was relaxing and doing it on purpose. LOL It’s different when it’s just suddenly snatched away from you for hours on end with no control over when you’ll have it back. Maybe I’m just a ball of stress… either way I am currently enjoying the modern luxury of electricity!
