last prednisone … done and hive free!
Woohoo!! I just took my last dose of prednisone and I am hive free. Whew 12 days was a long time and that stuff was making me hungry like a bear … grrrrr! I am without hives, and hopefully going to stay that way. Hives are so not pleasant. People look at you like you have the plague. Usually because they don’t understand that you have an allergy condition and they don’t realize that it’s not going to go away with a simple acne treatment or some miracle cream. Or they think you haven’t bathed in a millennium or something and of course they are convinced that whatever it is on your arm is extremely contagious and going to make them shrivel up and die just from seeing it!
LOL ~ I know, I know, it’s just human nature. But, it still annoys me. It especially made me angry when Dylan was very little. He had eczema head to toe the poor little guy, and it took us a very long time to get it all under control. He was such a trooper with his little boo boos all over, never fussed about them at all even though I know he had to be in pain. Just smiled and played. Yet we would be at the grocery store and people would look at him and think he was disgusting, or that I didn’t take care of him, or something. Just “that” look. I actually got into a fight with a woman once because she pulled her child back away from him, “don’t go near him…” while they were at the candy machines in front of the store. Dylan wasn’t even 2 years old at the time. That memory is forever burned in my mind, thank goodness he was too little to remember the way that woman looked at him.

It’s always the adults who have the small minds! I’m glad Dylan doesn’t remember that.
Imagine how my boss feels– he’s been on prednisone for MONTHS now! I think they’re finally going to start weaning him off in a week or so. I hope so, man is driving me crazy LOL I’m just glad your hives are all cleared up. I hope you don’t have to mess with it again!

I HATE predisone…it makes me cringe really…I am glad you only had it for 12 days…I had it for 3 months and gained 50 lbs. I still have my steriod baby that i can’t get rid of! But it saved my life literally…so who am I to complain…

I can’t imagine being on it for so long!! The hungry thirsty feeling was making me insane. I’m afraid to step on a scale, I was already having weight gain issues before I started the prednisone.
Fingers crossed that the hiveyness stays far, far away.

I tried really hard to not give in…but i was so sick that being able to eat and stuff was welcome…But now I can’t lose the weight! I am just glad that it helped you…
