Happy Birthday Lucas

bugs are coolI said to my husband the other night, “Do you realize that in 10 years all our kids will be grown up?” It seems like time is in overdrive and everything just happens so fast. I know, parents always say that. But, it’s the truth. It just all happens so fast and before you know it your tiny little bundle of joy that you just brought home from the hospital is 6 months, 2 years old, starting kindergarten, 10 years old and if I close my eyes for 10 seconds he’ll probably be married with three kids of his own!

My sweet Lucas, child who according to no less than two doctors shouldn’t have been brought into the world. (Yes, a termination of pregnancy was actually suggested at one point.) Child who struggled through 2.5 years of physical therapy. Child who has overcome every obstacle life has ever given him, and it’s given him a lot of those. He is 10 today and I am so very proud to be his mom.

I’d normally share pictures from today with the cake and all the fun stuff … but my camera batteries went kablooie on me. The boys and Brian are out to see Iron Man right now and then to Silver Diner for dinner. I’m at home, getting ready to dig into some work. The silly little loaner car only seats 5 people, and even that’s a tight squeeze. So, I sent them off to go see the movie without me. I’m going to throw together a salad or something for lunch, take my allergy meds, and start crossing things off the to do list for work.

**Edited to add, thank you to all that noticed Lucas is wearing a school team spirit shirt in this picture. No worries though, that’s actually one of Dylan’s old shirts from 1st grade (Yes, Dylan was that size when he was in 1st grade and Lucas is in 3rd grade now, crazy right?) And well, when Dylan was in 1st grade we lived in a completely different state. Not that I would be extremely worried if it were current, the school the boys go to is pretty secure… and we’re moving in a month and the boys will go to a different school.

Find the Time Mama

You love being a mom. It's one of the best things in the world and you'd never turn it in for any other life. Me too!

But, there's no need to strive to be Super Woman or to put on any fronts that's it's all a breeze. Fact of the matter is, being a mom, a spouse, the cook, cleaner, nurse, chauffeur, bookkeeper, event planner, organizer and [fill in the blank with your many duties here] is not always easy. All those roles and duties can really wear you out (even if you love doing them) and make you feel like there's no time left over to do the things you want to do.

Now is the time to get your Find the Time Mama guide and start making changes.
