Key Ingredient
I love finding new and creative foodie websites. Key Ingredient lets you find and submit all your favorite Easy Recipes. But, that’s not all you get. You can grab these fun little recipe widgets like the one in this post and use them to blog about the recipes that you find or even the ones you submit. As you can tell by my choice of widget I submitted the recipe Lucas and I created the other day for pancakes when we were out of pancake mix, and also out of milk. And I copy and paste …. and ta-da I have a widget aka digital recipe card:
You’ll see the digital recipe card has three parts to it, the description, which gives you a quick idea of what the recipe is without going into the whole ingredient list and directions. The recipe tab, which will give you your ingredient list, directions, picture of the recipe, etc…. And then there is the about tab that tells you who posted the recipe, see there’s a picture of me, my username, and a link to my Key Ingredient profile telling you how many recipes I’ve posted and how many cookbooks I’ve created there. Right now I’ve only added Luke’s Pancakes, but I look forward to adding many, many more.
This about tab also shows you how many people have viewed the recipe, and the tags on this recipe. These are just like the social networking tags you’re used to seeing. If you click on one it will take you to a search result for all the recipes tagged with that tag. For example, I clicked on Pancakes and it took me to a results page with 5 results for the tag Pancakes.
There is so much more to do and see at Key Ingredient, I haven’t even tried it all out yet. There’s the Cookbook feature, where you can file your recipes away into individual cookbooks. You could use these sort of as categories if you want to help keep your library of recipes organized. One for dinner recipes, one for chicken recipes, you get the idea. There’s the social aspect where you can add friends and and share recipes and talk about all the things involved in recipes and cooking. And don’t forget to check out the blog and add it to your feed reader!
I’m looking forward to using this new site, especially the digital recipe cards! I hope you enjoy it too, and I’d love to hear your thoughts about it. If you do sign up stop by here and let me know and I’ll add you as a friend in the network
Happy recipe hunting!

I always put a dash of cinnamon into pancake batter, I bet cinnamon coffee creamer was GOOD!! I might just buy some just so I can try it in pancakes!

I have a similar recipe but I scale back the baking powder to 2 TEAspoons instead of 2 TABLEspoons, I use buttermilk, and instead of the Coffee Mate and water I use 2 mashed over-ripe bananas.
My kids like me to sprinkle a few chocolate chips into each pancake as soon as I put the batter on the griddle.
I’m going to try yours out for the “grown-ups” in the house.

It’s amazing that widget creating is getting into niches. I guess recipes is a huge niche. Big enough to be a non-niche. But still it says something pretty big about social marketing.
Nice recipe too. I miss pancakes so much but gave up wheat for the most part years ago.
