what’s this pile of stuff?

Moving makes you realize how much stuff you really have. We don’t generally have a lot of stuff… heck we barely had furniture. But, I mean the little stuff.

Like Noah had about 50 pencils in his backpack… all sharpened down to nearly nothing. For some reason Lucas has a bajillion more t-shirts than everyone else. That got pared down a bit, gave a few to Noah & Ethan and quite a few in a donation box.

And then there’s the office. Let’s just say this, when no one knew what to do with a thing…. it ended up in the office. So, the office became full of stuff that I have no idea what to do with. Guess what room we saved for packing and moving until last?

Why does the office always become the junk room? Every time I have to search through the office closet for something, I seriously regret all the useless stuff we brought here. I have an entire box full of indefinable stuff like keychains, old store cards, those plastic slipcovers for IDs, lanyards….ugh.

Weird about the multitudes of pencils. Is he afraid he’ll run out or too lazy to throw them away? lol

You know, we have three rooms in our house that get all the junk stashed into it (our server room, my craft room and the storage room). So not looking forward to sorting through all of that when it does come time to move again.

I’m starting to take the attitude that if I haven’t used it since we moved here five years ago, it’s getting tossed or donated - which reminds me: I have a cross stitch kit you may be interested in (if you don’t want it, I won’t be hurt - just say no). As soon as I find the instructions, I’ll email you with details.

Dude! That’s exactly how it is over here! Argh!

Kid: “Hey Dad, where should I put this?”

Dad: “I don’t know where it came from - put it in your mom’s office….”

You know - that room I’m ‘taking completely over’ - hahahaha!!

Our basement has become the spot where everything goes… but it also happens to be outr office for two businesses so it’s not a good thing. I have been removing a little at a time and plan to do so all summer. It’s good for the productivity -however nothing gets a good purge going like a big move. Have fun with your move!

Hey all I am new here. I just wanted to throw in my two cents. hehehe.
My office is a junk room, especially my file cabinets. There is more junk in them
than actual files. I think my files are now sitting on top of my book case. I really need to get better organized, before I misplace something important.

I’m sitting out on the deck right now even though it’s 90 degrees and 80% humidity. Why? Because my office became a junk room and I can’t work in it. My husband and kids pretty much follow Lisa Marie’s family’s approach: don’t know where it goes? Stick it on Mom’s desk.

Honestly there are some days I think about BBQing a little too close to the siding just so I don’t have to go through decluttering this house.

I know exactly what you mean about the office remark. Every house we’ve ever lived in the office or *cough* “spare-room” always gets over-run with, well junk! I’ve had the pleasure of moving home 5 times in 4 years and to be honest, I just gave up and lived out of boxes for a while! Absolute madness.

I think everyone has a room, closet, or other location in the house where things go when there’s no other place for them. That drives me crazy. I wish I had the guts to just have a giant trash can for those things. But I guess my wife might not appreciate it. :)

We have a spare bedroom that has become our little “junk room”. If there’s no room for it anywhere else in the house, something ALWAYS finds it’s way there.
