doing the dishes
I was doing the dishes this afternoon and the phone rang, I went to answer it, talked for a few minutes, and when I came back there were little boys all lined up at the sink. It was a nice surprise, I hadn’t asked them to wash the dishes or do any chores this afternoon.
We were just kind of hanging out and doing whatever. They worked together and had the dishes washed, rinsed, dried, and put away in less than 15 minutes. I was such a happy proud mommy I plugged in the Wii and let them all play Super Smash Brothers for awhile.

Oh, that’s so sweet! I can’t wait until mine’s old enough to do chores.

Wow! Good for you letting them play Wii afterwards, that’s a great reward. You’ve obviously got an awesome brood.

Too cute! And too amazing that you had a camera ready to go just when they were cutely washing dishes dressed in contrasting crayon-color t-shirts. Sure you didn’t plan that?

I wish my wife would let me play Wii for doing the dishes.
I guess we’d first have to buy a Wii.

Wow how do you get kids to do that. Mine are about that age and I have to threaten them with something approaching death just to get them to switch the computer games off

That is awesome. When I was little I always snuck some chores in when my parents turned their back just to see if they’d notice. I think you gave them an awesome reward. Better to earn a reward than lose a privilege!

Why do they do us like this? My son will roll his eyes and whine if I ask him to take 30 seconds to put his laundry away, but will turn around and have me sit down the next morning while he makes my coffee and rubs my feet.
They are odd little critters, but the important part is that their true colors show when no one is looking. So you’ve got a good crew of boys there!
