…. is still an AquaDot! Even if you call it a Pixos and include lots of shiny new free bonuses. I just saw a commercial for these evil little toys that were recalled last year. They still work the same “spray on some water” and they look exactly the same, and they even make the same patterns with them in the commercial as before.
Am I the only that’s deeply disturbed by this reappearance after AquaDots landed several children in the hospital in a coma? How many names has this rotten product gone by? Bindeez, Aqua Dots, Beados and now as Pixos in the hopes that people will forget about the massive recall and the little children that suffered from this horrible creation.

Last night after dinner my kids sat down in a circle in the middle of the living room floor with their notebooks and pens and made “the lists!” Those being of course their holiday wish lists to tell everyone what they want this year! Which of course led Brian and I into a discussion about the insane number of toy recalls this year. After the AquaDots fiasco and that still being something Ethan wanted I was ready to call off the holidays all together! NO TOYS! Zip, zero, zilcho.

Our original plan this year was to take a vacation because normally Brian has two weeks off work, the kids are off school, and if we’re on vacation no one can harass to be at their house at a certain time, or bug us to do other holiday junk we don’t want to do. We just want to enjoy some time off together in peace and quiet, you know? But, in an effort to ruin my holiday the company decided they wouldn’t be closing for those two weeks like they usually do. Okay, maybe it wasn’t exactly in an effort to, but it sure felt like it. |
Now toy is safe this season, not even the cute and adorable Curious George. Yes, the beloved monkey has been recalled. I am seriously hoping that the boys get loads of American made candies, home made boxes of cookies, and tons of video games and comic books! At least they won’t end up in a coma or with lead poisoning that way.

That is a phrase I have repeated a bazillion times in the past two months. And after what I just read on CNN I am extremely glad that I said those words over and over again.
Two U.S. children went into comas after who swallowing Chinese-made Aqua Dots found to contain a chemical that converts into ‘date rape’ drug when ingested. With only seven weeks until Christmas, the recall is yet another blow to the toy industry — already bruised by a slew of recalls this past summer.
Seriously the toy recalls have been whack lately. There’s a grand solution for all this. MAKE THINGS IN THE USA!!!! Duh. Stupid manufacturers. Use your own factory, in your own country, stop outsourcing, and stay in control of what you’re sending onto the shelves for our kids to play with.
The two U.S. children who swallowed Aqua Dot beads went into nonresponsive comas, commission spokesman Scott Wolfson said Wednesday afternoon.
These kids could be dead right now, because of crappy manufacturing and lack of testing. Please do not buy my children any toys for Christmas this year. Send them clothes, underwear and socks, and video games. At least those won’t kill them. Gees. I know, I’m not my usual pleasant self but this whole thing just disgusts me to no end. Yuck. |

I literally feel ill to my stomach thinking about it. What if Ethan had gotten those? What if the dog ate one off the floor? What if Ethan put his hand in his mouth after playing with them? What if he was happily having a lollipop and creating beautiful masterpieces with his Aquadots one afternoon …. sticky fingers, little beads. Just sick to my stomach thinking about it and those poor little kids that are in the hospital.
Meanwhile, a separate recall was announced for 405,000 children’s products made in China, most of them toy cars, because of dangerous levels of lead.
Nothing is safe this year. Next thing we’ll read about is Tickle Me Elmo’s that explode when you tickle them.
